In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In September 2023, the 78th session of the Assembly is due to meet to move the Goals forward.
As part of Churches Fire & Security’s commitments to making positive social and environmental impacts, we have identified 7 of these key goals where we believe we can make changes:
Sustainable Development Goals
The services and products we provide to our customers tackle hazards, thus protecting and saving lives. Internally, we make sure our employees are provided with support and training to maintain their health and wellbeing, including our Employee Assistance Programme.
We have worked in partnership with local colleges to provide complimentary training to electrical studies students. Our employee Academy trains staff in other disciplines, developing their knowledge of our service suite.
Our main site in Southampton is powered by 100% renewable electricity, which accounts for 58% of our total energy. Further plans to align with this goal include the increased use of renewables within transport.
Continually engaging our workforce, we are committed to corporate diversity and providing opportunities to all.
Fire safety services represent an integral part of urban and rural infrastructure. This is an area we will continue to provide innovative products and services to.
Our waste consumption is continually monitored, with methods in place to reduce waste in our everyday business operations. Our fire extinguishers are already recycled through a recognised scheme, our Southampton site has been paperless for over 10 years and we have a Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) waste arrangement with our main supplier.
A primary business focus is the decarbonisation of our commercial fleet, and we continue to assess the market for new solutions. |
Our Board of Directors, Senior Leadership Team and Social Value Committee are dedicated to enforcing these goals, encouraging employees to meet the targets at all points across the business.
