At Churches Fire & Security, we believe that looking after our people is just as important as looking after our customers. As part of our ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing, we have increased the number of Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) across our business – following feedback and requests from our team.

Listening to What Our People Need
Creating a positive culture around mental health starts with listening. Our team told us they wanted greater access to mental health support and more people within the business who they could approach for a confidential conversation. In response, we have expanded our network of trained Mental Health First Aiders, helping to make support more accessible across the organisation.
Our MHFAiders are trained to recognise the signs that someone may be struggling, listen without judgement and signpost colleagues towards appropriate support and resources.
Why Mental Health First Aiders Matter
Mental health can affect anyone, at any time. Having trained colleagues available across our business means that employees have someone they can approach when they need a listening ear or simply want to talk. Our Mental Health First Aiders are not counsellors or medical professionals. Their role is to provide initial support, encourage open conversations and help colleagues access the right professional resources when needed.
Building a Culture Where it is OK to Talk
Increasing our number of Mental Health First Aiders is one part of our wider commitment to creating a workplace where people feel comfortable talking about their wellbeing. We want our people to know that they don’t have to wait until they’re struggling to ask for support. Whether it’s work-related pressure, challenges at home or simply having a difficult day, having someone available to talk to can make a difference.
By increasing our network of Mental Health First Aiders, we’re making it easier for our people to access support and helping to keep wellbeing at the heart of our workplace culture.
This initiative is a great example of how employee feedback can lead to meaningful change. We’re proud to be investing in our people and continuing to build a workplace where everyone feels supported, valued and able to speak openly about their wellbeing.
