Fire Extinguisher Monthly Checks

Extinguishers@2x

Whatever your business, as part of your fire safety maintenance, you should be visually checking your fire extinguishers at least monthly.

Learn what you should be looking for in our short video guide.

What to visually inspect

  • Make sure the safety pin is intact
  • Check that the seal isn’t broken or damaged
  • Look for any dents, signs of corrosion or leaks
  • Remove any debris or dirt that could be clogging the nozzle
  • Check that the pressure gauge is undamaged and working

The importance of fire extinguishers

Often the first thing to hand in the event of a fire, fire extinguishers are hand-held and can be used to put out or manage a small fire. Fire extinguishers are available in a number of sizes, ranging between 2 – 20kg, and are designed to be used on different types of fire.

A recognisable symbol of fire safety, fire extinguishers are the first line of defence against a small fire before the fire brigade are on site. With our decades of knowledge and experience in the industry, we can provide the right equipment for your business to ensure you’re prepared for any fire occurrence.

At Churches Fire we provide guidance on what fire extinguishers are required per customer, and work to ensure they remain in full working order and are legally compliant. We can also deliver fire training for your employees to ensure staff know how to use the fire extinguishers in an emergency should the situation arise.

It’s important to remember that more in-depth checks of your fire extinguishers must be carried out annually by a competent technician.

At Churches Fire we have the qualifications and experience to help you meet your fire safety duties, whilst ensuring compliance to the relevant standards.
