Van & Truck Hire Company - Cost-Effective Solution to On-Site Security

The Client

The customer is a highly reputable, industry-leading van and truck hire company, which boasts a team of highly trained staff and experts in the field to ensure the most professional and knowledge service possible.

With a total of 12 sites spread across the UK and an excellent portfolio of vehicles, they are a great partner for businesses of all sizes.

For this commercial customer, they have many vehicles stored in an external yard. It is important for the operation of the business that these vehicles are not stolen or vandalised. For this company, they required a high level of security when the business was closed, however could not justify the money an on-site security guard would cost.

Our Trusted Service Solutions

Electronic security systems are a great cost-effective solution for on-site security guards. There are a variety available on the market which can be custom designed and integrated as part of a high-level security system.

Prior to designing the system, we surveyed the site and spent time with the operations and facilities team to fully understand the day-to-day process of how the business works and how this system would need to work to bring security to the site without disrupting the operations.

For this customer, we had already previously installed an Access Control System on barriers at the entrance of the property. The issue they were currently facing ws with unauthorised access outside of opening hours. The customer assumed that there was only one option available, an on-site security guard during the closed periods.

We approached the customer with the idea of monitored CCTV. These systems have many benefits, including providing the same level of security as an on-site security guard, without the need for one.

CCTV MONITORING VS ON-SITE SECURITY GUARD

  • INTERACTIVE

With the tannoy system, these audio systems can be completely customised to each site they are installed on. These security tannoys can also be linked directly to a monitoring station so that security guards in the monitoring station can directly address intruders.

  • COST-EFFECTIVE

While these systems have installation and maintenance costs, they are much cheaper than paying for a salary to someone to watch over your property every year. Also, when taking cost into consideration, you should think about what you could possibly lose if there was a break-in to your property. Loss of expensive machinery, assets and stock are all things that could greatly impact the running of a business.

  • ACCURATE

CCTV can cover all entrances of the property at once. It is unlikely that a security guard can keep eyes on the entire property in one go.

  • EVIDENCE

Should someone manage to get into the property and vandalise/steal anything, CCTV will have a recording of these events. Providing these recordings to police could help to identify and convict any criminals involved.

  • RELIABLE

Whilst your on-site security guard may be reliable in terms of showing up to their job, they may not actually be keeping up with their duties out-of-hours. Long hours and night shifts can mean it is difficult to see how productive an on-site guard is. CCTV will provide coverage throughout all hours without getting tired or complacent.
CCTV is extremely reliable and should there be an issue, normally can be sorted with very minimal downtime. CCTV can be switched on to record 24/7 recording issues not only out-of-hours, but also during the working day. Additionally, this can improve the security of your business during the daytime, too.

  • IMMEDIATE POLICE RESPONSE

Having any security system monitored means that a monitoring centre will respond to any alarm activations or activity on the premises out-of-hours without having to be on the premises, and be in danger from a potential intruder. The police can still be on-site within minutes without anyone being in danger of being injured in the meantime.
