At Churches Fire & Security, the well-being and safety of our team members and customers are at the heart of everything we do. As we commemorate the World Day of Safety and Health in the Workplace, it’s an opportune time to re-emphasize the paramount importance of health and safety in our industry.

Our Commitment to Health and Safety

We take great pride in our dedicated Health & Safety team, comprising compliance officers and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality) officers, who work tirelessly to ensure that our team is up to date on training and equipped with accessible resources to uphold the highest safety standards.

Collaborations and Initiatives

CallMy Collaboration: We have collaborated with CallMy to support our lone workers and prepare for the implementation of Martyn’s Law. This proactive step demonstrates our commitment to the safety and security of all our team members.

Accreditations: We are actively working towards obtaining the 45001 and 14001 accreditations, underscoring our dedication to maintaining robust health and safety standards.

Near Miss Reporting: We have introduced more accessible ways for our team to report near misses, fostering a culture of transparency and continuous improvement in our safety protocols.

Driving Modules: Through a collaboration with FleetMaster, we have developed three driving modules to enhance driver awareness and safety, acknowledging the importance of safe driving practices.

Seven Clean Seas Partnership

An integral part of our sustainability efforts involves a close collaboration with Seven Clean Seas, an organisation dedicated to removing plastic waste from the world’s oceans and facilitating environmental restoration.

Through this partnership, we have contributed to the removal of over 250kg of plastic waste from oceans over the past two years. The plastic waste recovered is then repurposed through methods such as traditional recycling, energy conversion, and production of building materials, aligning with our ethos of reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Upholding Safety Standards

Asbestos and DSEAR Training: We are dedicated to upskilling and developing our teams to comprehend the content of asbestos reports and issuing DSEAR awareness training to equip our employees with comprehensive knowledge and preparedness.

Dynamic Risk Assessment: We encourage dynamic risk assessment thinking, advocating for thorough assessments of the work environment before commencing any tasks. This includes the use of site-specific RAMs and proactive involvement of compliance officers to ensure thorough inspections and safety checks.

Partnership with Customers: We actively collaborate with our customers to educate them about maintaining safe environments and comprehending their responsibilities in upholding safety standards.

By staying informed of legislative changes and seizing the opportunity to educate and equip our team members, as well as our customers, with the necessary tools and knowledge, we are steadfast in our commitment to promoting a culture of safety and health in the workplace.

As we observe the World Day of Safety and Health in the Workplace, we reaffirm our dedication to maintaining exemplary safety standards within our organisation. At Churches Fire & Security, safety is a non-negotiable priority, and we remain resolute in our efforts to create a safe and secure work environment for all.

Together, let’s continue to encourage a culture of safety, health, and well-being in the workplace.
