Churches Fire’s David White becomes new IFSM president
Our David White was sworn in as president of The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) at the Fire Safety North event in Manchester.
The IFSM is a professional body of highly respected individuals and companies who all share the same objective: to raise the awareness of fire safety at a local, national and international level, promoting fire prevention, fire protection and reducing the risk from fire as far as reasonably practical.
Having originally joined the London Fire Brigade in 1972, David has decades of fire safety experience serving in numerous fire authorities. David has worked in multiple prestigious roles including the Fire Safety Manager for The Ministry of Justice and as the Head of Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Security for the largest mental health trust in the country.
David White, IFSM president said:
“Becoming president of such a fast growing institute is a fitting finale whilst I come to the end of a fabulous career within a great industry.”

David’s duties for the two year term will include attending functions and meetings worldwide, representing the institute at the highest level, speaking on behalf of members on industry lead committees and sitting on the working groups set up from the draft Hackitt report. David will drive the institute forward within the industry and will be actively pushing to bring more young professionals into the fire industry.
