LPCB Management SystemsChurchesfire is certified to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 - this is the International Standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS) and is awarded through the LPCB.

It provides our company with a set of principles that ensures a common sense approach to the management of our business activities to consistently achieve customer satisfaction.

Accreditation is when an organization that provides certification, testing and inspection services are assessed by a third party against internationally recognized standards. It demonstrates the organisations competence, impartiality and performance capability and is the key to reducing risk and ensuring that consumers, suppliers and purchasers can have confidence in the services provided. LPCB accreditation is recognised through United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

LPCB - Loss Prevention Standard LPS 1048 Level 3

LPCB Product CertificationSprinkler systems are only effective if they are designed, installed and maintained correctly. LPS 1048 requirements for the approval of sprinkler system contractors in the UK and Eire ensure that installers are capable of designing, installing and maintaining sprinkler systems to acceptable installation standards

Specifiers should only use sprinkler contractors that are LPS 1048-1 approved to the appropriate level depending on the type of sprinkler work required. Churchesfire has Level 3 accreditation.

In order to ensure that a sprinkler system is effective, specifiers should always request an LPS 1048 certificate of conformity. An LPS 1048 certificate of conformity may only be issued for a sprinkler system, installation or extension or alteration that is in full compliance with one of the acceptable installation standards.

BAFE – British Approvals

BAFE is the independent third party registration body for the fire protection industry. It brings to the marketplace a registration scheme for each product or service within the industry for which third party certification has been considered appropriate. All BAFE schemes are approved to ISO 9001 or equivalent and provide a published technical prescription to which organisations, products and services can be independently assessed. The Gent 24 Network of Approved System Integrators covers the length and breadth of UK. Churchesfire can supply Gent equipment and carry out design, installation, commissioning and maintenance operations to the highest standards of workmanship.

Trade Bodies

FIA – Fire Industry Association

FIA logoThe FIA is a not-for-profit trade association which promotes the professional status of the UK fire safety industry. It is the result of a merger between FETA (Fire Extinguishing Trade Association) and BFPSA (British Fire Protection Systems Association), two long standing and respected trade associations. One of our senior fire safety team sits on the association’s Fire Risk Assessment Council.

BAFSA – British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association

BAFSA was started in 1974 and is dedicated in the promotion of sprinklers by providing informative information on the benefits of having sprinkler systems. It works closely with many authorities including government, fire rescue service, building control officers, insurers, architects and town planners.

It is regarded as the UK’s leading professional trade association in sprinklers, and its members install more than 80% of all sprinkler and misting systems within the UK.

Health & Safety Accreditations

CHAS – Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme

CHAS is a national database of contractors who have completed a Health and Safety assessment and demonstrated adequate compliance and management standards. This enables them to work on local authority as well as other members’ contracts, subject to approval of other checks such as financial integrity.

The scheme has two main aims:

  • To improve Health and Safety in small to medium sized businesses
  • To reduce the need for repeated completion of Health and Safety forms when applying to members’ approved lists or tenders

CHAS client membership consists of local authorities, housing associations, NHS trusts, major contractors and blue chip companies nationwide. Once a contractor has been assessed and approved with one member, they can be accepted by any other signed up to CHAS.


Altius VA Limited is an independent assessment company who undertake assessments of contractors and suppliers to establish their capabilities against set criteria. The Altius assessment covers both commercial and health & safety (risk management) aspects of a company. Altius are members of SSIP; Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP), an umbrella organisation that facilitates mutual recognition between health & safety pre- qualification schemes. The basis of SSIP mutual recognition is an assessment against the requirements of the CDM Regulations 2015.



Safecontractor is an accreditation scheme that assesses the health and safety competency of contractors and service providers. Customers have a legal obligation to ensure that external contractors and service providers working on their premises operate in a safe way. There is therefore a need to assess contractor’s health and safety arrangements and increasingly this is being carried out through Safecontractor, with many large organisations using it as their primary selection criterion.

Our accreditation makes it unnecessary for prospective customers to carry out the traditional vetting processes, and for prospective suppliers to check our credentials elsewhere. It saves all parties time, cost and resource.
